On Friday 7.7. at 18:00 this year's chamber quintett, and thus also the festival's artistic director cellist Erkki Lahesmaa, will take the stage! We will also get to hear a premiere of a piece the festival has commissioned from the composer Mikko Heiniö, who is the festival's composer of the year. Heiniö describes his piece "Allora" for solo cello like this: "My piece Allora is composed of more or less obvious material from the song that the Ukrainian priest Mykhailo Verbytsky composed, and which later became Ukraine's national anthem. The Italian word "allora" has many meanings, but in this context the most fitting translations would be "consequently" and "hence". Heiniö celebrates his 75th anniversary this year and was recently named an honorary composer of the Philharmonic orchestra of Turku.

Mikko Heiniö: Allora (2022), premiere
